On Silence, A Tale of Autumn Novel 2024 Synopsis In a world of noise, I can only offer silence On Silence is a book that I didn’t plan, but I had to write. Silence is a subject that comes up again and again, not only in my writings, poems and notes but also in my visual work, and in my music. With silence, I don’t mean the vulgar notion of silence as complete absence of sound, I mean the moments of inner silence, with me being-there. You have often heard what I think of silence. With On Silence I wanted to collect my work on the subject, which I’ve been writing for years. But they were only fragments. At first I thought of writing an introduction to each fragment or poem, or note, or observation, or whatever material I had. But I didn’t want to just tell the story of those fragments, I wanted to put it into question, to embark on the adventure of finding silence, to surprise myself. In reality those fragments were portals to silence, and there, I found my story of silence, which turned out to be what I call On Silence, A Tale of Autumn. But why go to the world to share this story of silence? Because the silence is scarce in this noisy world; it is increasingly rare to have some significant silence, to be-there, in the present, and not only because of the obvious noise, but the inner noise. One is attacked in the intimate too, obliged to be at constant warfare with oneself. Because silence is our most precious currency.
